European Enviroment Agency released an annual report and Croatia is among the top six nations in Europe with the cleanest swimming water.
The report details the results of testing at more than 21,000 locations in Europe (including lakes and rivers) for harmful pollutants and bacteria, such as E. coli. Croatia, along with Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Germany and Luxembourg are the only nations in Europe with ‘excellent’ swimming water quality according to the report. The top six nations with the cleanest swimming water in Europe all returned excellent standards in over 90% of tested waters.
The Enviroment Agency also included a new interactive map which shows the swimming water quality from more than 21 000 locations in Europe:
