Old Town Rovinj

Old Town Rovinj
The old town of Rovinj is the protected historical centre of Rovinj, the most appealing part of the town for visitors. The narrow cobbled alleyways and the small squares which have witnessed the turbulent history of the town are full of medieval, gothic, renaissance, and baroque buildings and terraces. On the northern side, you will find the remains of the walls which used to protect the town’s inhabitants from conquerors and looters. Walking down the old alleys is a very special experience – you will feel like time has stopped and you have returned to the ancient era. Walking in the historical old town, you will find a new surprise at every step. Small churches, monuments, old doors and arches await behind every corner, and if you find yourself in need of a break and rest, your kind hosts will invite you into one of the numerous restaurants.

The old town is well worth a visit

This part of Rovinj has lots of restaurants and little cafe bars in the maze of narrow streets. Most of the bars and restaurants are reasonably priced with plenty of choice. I loved to walk though the streets, you feel like being in an other time long time ago.

Beautiful sunset!

This is my favourite town on the Istrian Peninsula. Very lovely! As you enter the town you can see the influence of the Venetians. There is a line of houses adjacent to one another rising out of the water. The town has many little streets and alley ways to explore. The size of the town is great, because you don't need to rush to any sightseeing place. Just walk around the old town without planning will give you a wonderful morning or afternoon. Very relaxing! For spectacular views visit the church on the top. Buy a beer and enjoy the sunset in Rovinj! It is more beautiful than the one I saw in Santorini. What a great town!
