Trsat Castle (Rijeka)

Trsat Castle
Trsat Castle is a castle in Trsat, Croatia. It is thought that the castle lies at the exact spot of an ancient Illyrian and Roman fortress. The Croatian noble Vuk Krsto Frankopan is buried in one of the churches. The Trsat castle was completely reconstructed and renovated in the 19th century when the mausoleum of the military commander Laval Nugent was built in its interior. The courtyard of the castle has now been turned into a restaurant and many tourists visit the place during the summer months. Trsat Castle is situated at an elevation of 110 m.

Charming

Charming, with a soul and a story. This place is part of the story of the main monument located near sanctuary of Mother of God of Trsat. This place gives you the opportunity to feel the soul of the Kvarner small towns and squares. That spirit will guide you and keep track of the entrance to the castle in his backyard in touch with history and nature.

A must see

The Trsat Castle is definitely a must-see during a visit to Rijeka. The castle itself is interesting, with some corridors and towers to explore, there is a gift shop, cafe, and if you are lucky, sometimes there are events organised. Other than that, the castle has a beautiful view of Rijeka, you can see the entire city as well as the whole bay.
