Đakovo is located 37 km to the southwest of Osijek and 34 km southeast of Našice. What makes this town unique are various cultural events such as the festival of Đakovo Embroidery (Đakovački vezovi) and the Midsummer Night Bonfire (Ivanjski kresovi) as well as the stud farm of the famous Lipizzaner horse. Đakovo is a popular destination for an increasingly large number of horse lovers from Croatia and abroad.
The town's most famous landmark and the most important sacral object, not only in Đakovo but through the whole region of Slavonia is the Cathedral of Saint Peter. This is the most beautiful church between Venice and Tsargrad, as Pope John XXIII said. The cathedral is recognizable by red bricks and is equally beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside, where it is decorated with lavish stained glass and an altar. If you haven't seen that cathedral or the Lipizzaner horse, then you probably haven't been to Đakovo yet.

Remarkable tour guides!
During my stay in Croatia, I had the pleasure of taking a couple of tours in the Slavonia region. I enjoyed a day in Osijek followed by a day in Dakovo. I stayed in a Pansion Budimir which is located in a great location on the edge of town and just off the highway set back enough to not get any noise. The tour guides were excellent, very passionate and knowledgeable about the town and sites we were touring and they gave us all the information we wanted to know about Dakovo. Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Dakovo is the town's most famous landmark and the most important sacral object so make sure you visit this amazing Cathedral when in Dakovo. The town and the surroundings offer many sports and recreation facilities, such as tennis courts, racecourse, gym, swimming pool, etc. I enjoyed my stay in Dakovo.
