If you want to feel the warmth of a small town centre, visit Ivanić Grad, which is not far from Zagreb. The small town developed from a fortress, and was built in a valley beside the river Lonja in the mid 16th century. Today it is a part of the county of Zagreb, and located beside the Zagreb-Lipovac motorway.
In the preserved ancient centre of the town there is the parish church of sv. Petar [St. Peter] and other valuable cultural heritage monuments. Ivanić Grad hides one great curiosity - a special hospital for medical rehabilitation, Naftalan. In many places there are oil pumps, which although look very historical, give a romantic look to the town.
