Korcula
Lovely island within easy reach of Dubrovnik by road & boat. It's fair to say that the beaches where we were aren't really the high point, but it's a lovely place to spend a few days wandering around. The island of Korcula has a fascinating history along the Dalmatian Coast. It is beautiful. The people are friendly.
The birthplace of Marco Polo
A beautiful island the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lots of history, our tour guide was very informative. I would love to go back for a holiday.
Historical island
Loved Korcula, so much history found here. Legend is was founded by the Trojan hero Antenor Adornek in. Legend also stated Marco Polo's birthplace. Many small lanes to wander thru and find little gems. The Cathedral of St. Mark is undergoing renovations on the outside, however, entering the cathedral is interesting and spiritual. We did find some fine gelato...chocolate, my favorite. Found a tiny cafe "Konoba" in one of the little alleyways. Had some fine pasta. If you are a history buff, this is the island for you.
