Krapina

Krapina
Krapina is a town in northern Croatia and the administrative centre of Krapina-Zagorje County. It is located in the hilly Zagorje region of Croatia. Krapina has been known since 1193. It has always been a favorite site for castles and country houses of Croatian and Hungarian rulers. The Krapina prehistoric man is the first to come to mind when thinking about Krapina. On the nearby Hušnjak hill is one of the largest and richest sites of the Neanderthal prehistoric man in the world. In addition to the site there is a museum with a display of the evolution of man from prehistoric times until today.

Quiet and simple town

Quiet, simple, nice little town. We stayed at Hotel Toplice in Krapinske Toplice. The hotel is simple, but clean with cosy atmosphere. However, the food was not so good, no fish, no deserts at evening meals, but we loved our 3 days stay in Krapina:)

Nice town with a must see museum

Krapina is located to the north of Zagreb, in the hilly Zagorje region of Croatia. On the nearby hill Husnjak, the archaeologists found in 1899, the fossil remains belonging to the Neanderthals. Over the Celjska road, in the very nice public garden, is situated the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. The Museum represents the habitat of the prehistoric man. The museum video showed us a lot, from the beginning of the life on our planet, and not only on Earth, but also from the creation of Universum. We enjoyed the town and museum :)
