Marčana

Marčana
Marčana is a typical agricultural village in the interior of Istria, near Pula. Its rich historical heritage testifies to the dense habitation of these areas during ancient times and its tumultuous past. Today, Marčana is a small town whose inhabitants mainly engage in subsistence farming. The village is dominated by a parish church with a bell tower, and the medieval church of Antun Padovanski [Anthony of Padua], was built later. The coastline here plunges steeply into the deep Adriatic Sea. If you would like to spend a quiet and peaceful holiday away from stress, Marčana is the ideal choice. The equestrian centre in Loborik is certainly attractive for horse riding lovers, while in Rakalj village there is the house of the famous Croatian poet Mijo Mirković (pseudonym Mate Balota) that has a collection of old Istrian ethnological artefacts.
