Mljet (island)
The island of Mljet, the most forested island in the Adriatic, is one of the most beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean. Isolated and untouched, the island's mysticism, olive groves, vineyards and rich forests are ideal places to research the rich flora and fauna, and to peacefully enjoy the pristine beauty of the natural surroundings. It was already mentioned in the fourth century BC in Greek writing, and the numerous Greek amphora and shipwrecks along the coast of Mljet are evidence that Greek sailors stayed on the shores of Mljet during their journeys.

If you stroll through the island of Mljet, you will see the goats, sheep, donkeys, which in these beautiful fields offer a welcome to all who visit.

A small town Mljet

This is a island with a national park that we hiked through. We arrived by sail boat. It is not a place frequented by huge cruise ships. It is picturesque but a very small town.

Beautiful island

Mljet is a very small island on the Dalmatian coast, about 1.5 hours by ferry from Dubrovnik. The island is less touristy in comparison to Hvar, Korcula, and Dubrovnik. The town has just one street with hotels and restaurants, but a visit to Mljet is not about the town but about the National Park. The Park is just stunning with in the middle a large lake with the clearest water I ever have seen. We felt like we were on Bora Bora. We rented bike and drove our bikes through the national park of Mljet and swim every 1/2 hour in the lake. A great and beautiful experience.

peaceful retreat

We had a great return journey to Mljet, so picturesque. Mljet is such a peaceful environment and I would love to return one day and stay there. The national parks have a great bus service to the jetty and then boats that run to and from the different areas of the lake. Swimming was better near the island as it was less crowded. There are little restaurants near the large ferry terminal and drinks are available. Excellent day
