The youngest city
Nova Gradiska is often referred to as the youngest city. It was founded in 1748 as an outpost in the Military Frontier and was first named Friedrichsdorf in German. The first building constructed was the church of Saint Tereza, which is an important monument of baroque architecture in Slavonija. I spent two nights in Nova Gradiška in the Hotel Kralj Tomislav. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Nova Gradiska, just off the bus and train stations. A car is not necessary since you can walk to numerous shops, restaurants, bars and a park directly across the street. I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful hotel and plan to visit my family in Nova Gradiska again next year.
