Novigrad
Novigrad, nowadays a picturesque little fishing town, was built on an island near the coast. Well preserved old city walls, that date back to the 13th century, represent one of the most interesting symbols of this tourist center. Novigrad isn’t just a real architectural gem filled with astounding historical sights, rich cultural heritage and preserved natural beauty; Novigrad is also one of the top Istrian gourmet destinations where one can taste many gastronomic extravagances of the Mediterranean food. The Istrian excellent cuisine and its delights will spice up your stay and make your journey so comfortable you will for sure want to return to this charming town again.

the museum is like a time machine
Novigrad is magnificent, a great place to stay, but not better than Makarska in my opinion. If you are a fan of history like me, visit the K.u.K. Marinemuseum. It is like a time machine. My family visited this little museum, which is an excellent private collection. The owner was very friendly, as most most signs did not have english translation. We saw models of old ships, old paintings and photographs, historical uniforms and weapons, and even surgical kits from the early 20th century. The rest of our vacation we spent on the beach. Just stay away from the sea hedgehog!
