Slatina
Slatina is a town in Slavonia, Croatia. It is located in the Virovitica-Podravina County, at the contact of the Drava valley and the foothills of Papuk mountain, in the central part of the region of Podravina. Slatina is a beauty of the Croatian plains and is decorated with beautiful hills and views. Its northern side makes the plains along the Drava river even more beautiful, and the southern slopes of the Papuk mountain, which is a nature park. This region is famous for a good drop of wine, and the birthplace of the first Croatian champagne. In the centre of the village there is the colossal pride of Slatina -a Redwood tree, which is a protected natural monument. Over 200 years old, over 50 m tall, with its healthy and beautiful wide crown, it is the only example of this Californian species of tree in Croatia. Not far from Slatina there is the unique stable of Arabian horses and a fallow deer breeding centre, where visitors can also go on an equestrian-bike trail where on their way they can learn about the natural, historical and cultural points of interest of the region. Lisičine Arboretum is in beautiful natural surroundings and has a rich collection of various indigenous and autochthonous species, and Sekulinačke mountains, part of Papuk Nature Park, is a reserve for forest vegetation (beech and fir) that will not leave you indifferent.
