Višnjan is a village and a municipality in Istria. Višnjan is the site of Višnjan Observatory, home of several long-running international summer programs for youth in astronomy, archeology, marine biology and other disciplines. In the streets of the old part of Višnjan you can experience the spirit of the rich historical heritage of this place. Every stone, every corner, and each family can tell you a legend or a true story about the villages past. Go down the Venice Lion path, or perhaps, ride a bike on the Star Trail and experience the simple enjoyment of the rural idyll that offers peace, clean air and beautiful scenery. You can feel the preserved authenticity in the rich variety of traditional Istrian cuisine, quality wines of renowned winemakers, olive oil and many other local and ecological products, which you can taste in the comfortable surroundings of the wine cellars, pub, restaurant or agrotourism.
This place is a gem! It’s a lovely little village worth exploring, everything is in easy walking distance, and there is even a very good restaurant, the Borgonja, with inside/outside seating and a great selection of local dishes. It's a great base to visit most of the major attractions in Istria. We spent 3 nights and visited Motovun, Porec, Rovinj, Pula, Premantura, Vodnjan, etc.
