Kopački Rit Nature Park
Around 260 various bird species nest here (wild geese and ducks, great white egret, white stork, black stork, white-tailed eagle, crows, coots, gulls, terns, kingfishers, European green woodpecker, etc.). There are 40-odd fish species (pike, ide, tench, bream, carp, catfish, pike-perch, perch, etc.). Several various mammal species inhabit the land (red deer, roe deer, wild boar, wild cat, pine marten, stone marten, weasel, sable, otter, etc.). The park can easily be reached by car but the best way to tour the park is on excursion boats which are able to reach even the shallow, swampy backwaters.

Nice park but could be so much better
This place need to be more protected because its awsome. I don't understand that for business reasons, hunters, fishers, wood companies, can do so much damages to this park. Avoid the touristic boats, you won't see much. Its more like wasting your time and money. Take a car, or a bike (with a good anti mosquitoes spray he he), and enjoy driving all around. Stop somewhere, hide, and observe nature, it's great, lot of birds there. For your lunch break, go to baránska kuća, it's an awsome restaurant with like ethno museum inside. Book your sits before to go. You can also give a look to the tito's Castle.
Great place
On the East part of Croatia is a Nature park called Kopački Rit. It is situated close to Osijek, the biggest town in Slavonia. The park is home of 298 birds species, some of them you can see only here. It's a place that you can see wild animals especial on the night or early in the morning not so many during the day. You can rent a canoe and row around or bicycle and train.
Nice place and beautiful nature
This reserve is a nice experience, nature is really beautiful. Best time of the year for a visit is Sept when there are less mosquitoes and birds start to congregate and prepare for a migration. There are several ways to experience reserve - cycle, walk, electric boat. Kopački Rit nature park is breathtaking beauty, it definitely visit if you have the chance. We were lucky (water level and a quiet day) to see parts of KP which are normally not included.
