Risnjak National Park
Risnjak National Park is a national park in Croatia. It is located in Gorski kotar, the most mountainous and heavily forested region of the country, about 15 km inland from the Adriatic Sea. The park covers an area of 63.5 square kilometers, including the central part of Risnjak and Snježnik massif and the source area of the river Kupa. This mountain massif was named after the lynx, in Croatian ris, its most popular inhabitant. It combines almost all the forest types of the areas and contains numerous plant and animal species. Nature lovers come to Risnjak for the beauty of the mountains, forests, waters and karst. The most frequent visitors are mountaineers, who find the highest peak of the massif the most rewarding challenge. The Risnjak’s summit is equally attractive in all seasons: in winter, when covered with snow; in spring, when the meadows around it transform into carpets of flowers; in summer, when it offers respite from the heat in the nearby littoral area, and in autumn, when the trees are bathed in a myriad of colours. In addition to lynx, the symbol of the mountain, there are also brown bears, martens and dormice. Risnjak is also famous for its fantastic views of the islands in the Kvarner Bay and the mountains in neighbouring Slovenia and further to the Alps.

Lovely mountains

So many places to see there. Low tourism. Prices are decent. If you like mountains, you will love it.

Wonderful

Wonderful nature, stunning views. A nice walk through magnificent woods will refresh and rejuvenate you, and once you reach the top, you will see the entire Kvarner bay as if at a palm of your hand. An amazing and fabulous experience.

Spectacular

The scenery is spectacular. So many beautiful pictures to be had. We saw so many waterfalls of all sizes. Trails are easy enough for most people as it is a wooden boardwalk. Its a great nature day for the entire family. A bus is available to take you to the start of your walk. A food and beverage place is on site and ice cream stands. We had a problem with the bee's that seemed to be in abundance at this time of year in Austria. any place there was food, bee's were to be found in abundance. A real nuisance. So, I advise you to be prepared if anyone is allergic. Must were cool comfortable clothes and shoes if you decide to do this walk.
